PC | Microphone Not Working

Objective:
To provide detailed instructions on how to book a desk, meetings, huddle and conference rooms.

🔍 Step 1: Basic Checks

• Make sure the mic is plugged in properly (if external).
• Check physical mute switch (on headset or inline control).
• Test with another device (to rule out hardware failure).
• Use another port

⚙️ Step 2: Set the Correct Mic as Default

1. Right-click the 🔊 speaker icon in your taskbar.
2. Choose "Sound settings”

1. Make sure the correct mic is set.

1. Speak into the mic – do you see green bars? If not, continue.

🔧 Step 3: Check Microphone Volume

1. In the Recording tab, double-click your microphone.
2. Go to the Levels tab.
3. Make sure the mic is not muted and volume is at least 80-100.

🔐 Step 4: Give Apps Permission to Use the Mic

1. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone.

1. Ensure Microphone access is turned ON.
2. Make sure "Let apps access your microphone" is ON.
3. Scroll down and enable access for specific apps (e.g., Zoom, Teams, etc.).

🧪 Step 5: Test Your Mic

• Use the Sound Settings:
  1. Go to Settings > System > Sound.
  2. Scroll to Input section.
  3. Choose your desired mic. Scroll to Microphone Test section and choose “Start Test”
